Privacy Policy
Last updated 25 October 2026
Baddy (also called Baddy AI) turns your badminton videos into highlight reels. It is made by DotRed Labs ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. It covers the Baddy app for iPhone and Android and the website at baddyai.com.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run Baddy: your account details, the videos you upload and what we make from them, and the basic records that keep the service working and safe.
- Your videos go to the AI services we use (Google Gemini, Meta SAM and RunPod) only after you allow it, to make and edit your reels. This includes automatically outlining players and objects in short rally clips after reel generation to prepare video effects, even if you have not chosen an effect.
- We do not show ads, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell your data.
- You can delete your account and everything in it at any time, in the app or on the website.
1. What we collect
Account details
- Your display name and username.
- Your gender, only if you choose to give it on the username step (it picks the picture shown there).
- Your profile picture: a photo you upload, a comic character drawn from a photo you choose (by OpenAI, see below), or one of our ready-made characters. We do not keep the photo used for a drawing, only the drawing you pick.
- Your email address, name and profile picture, if you sign in with Google, Apple or an email code through Clerk, our sign-in provider.
- Your mobile number or email address, if you sign in with a one-time code. We keep only a scrambled (hashed) copy of each code, and only until it expires.
- A scrambled (hashed) password, if you use a password account.
- Your school or academy and your role there (student, coach or admin), if you join one with its code.
- Your credits and how they were bought or used, and a record of each purchase (the pack, the amount, the payment method type and Razorpay's order and payment references). We never see or store your card number or UPI PIN.
- Whether you allowed AI processing, and when.
Your videos and what we make from them
- The videos you record or upload, including their sound.
- What Baddy works out from them: where each rally starts and ends, shuttle and player positions, scores and shot types, and stats such as rally length.
- What Baddy makes from them: highlight reels, clips, thumbnails and edits.
- Player names and photos you add for the scoreboard.
- Where you played: the club or court you pick, find on the map or say yes to, with its city, and the clubs you join. Anyone who can see the reel can see its club, and anyone signed in can see the clubs on your profile.
- If you let the app use your location: where your phone was when you recorded or uploaded a video, as map coordinates rounded to about 10 metres. Only you can see them. For a game you record in the app, Baddy uses them to suggest the club you played at (or to pick your own club when you are there), and the clubs learn where they are from the games recorded at them, never from who recorded them.
- Messages you send to the AI editor in the Studio, its replies, and the short notes it keeps so it remembers how you like your edits.
Your activity in Baddy
- Ratings, likes and views on rallies, the players you follow and block, the reels you report, and who can see each of your reels.
Records we need to run the service
- A sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in.
- Your IP address, used for a short time to stop abuse such as too many sign-in attempts.
- Upload and processing records, for example when a video arrived and whether processing worked. For each uploaded file, we keep its filename, type, size, upload times and status.
- Feature activity, such as using an editor tool or clicking Download or Share: the action, time, account and whether the request was accepted, refused or failed. A Download or Share click does not tell us that a download or share finished.
- Access records when authorised staff review saved AI chat: who reviewed it, when, which reel it belongs to, and whether the purpose was support or product improvement. Chat text is not copied into feature activity or access records.
- Crash and error reports from the app and the website: the error, the screen or page it happened on, your device platform, and your username if you were signed in.
- Problem reports you send with Report a problem: what you write, a screenshot if you add one, your username or (signed out) the email you choose to leave, and, unless you switch it off, the page you were on, your browser or app version and the last errors it saw.
- If you report a reel without an account: a random number the app made for itself on your phone or browser, so repeated reports from it count once. We store only a scrambled (hashed) copy, and it is not linked to you.
- If our team suspends your account: when, who decided, and why.
We do not collect your contacts, your other photos and videos (only the ones you choose or record in Baddy), advertising identifiers, or medical data such as heart rate, weight or health records. We keep the badminton session history and sports performance statistics described above.
2. How we use it
- To create your account and sign you in.
- To find the rallies in your videos, track the shuttle and the players, and make and edit your highlight reels.
- To automatically outline players and objects in short rally clips after your reel is generated, so video effects are ready even if you have not chosen one.
- To show your reels to you and to the people you choose.
- To run the AI features you use, such as the Studio chat and video effects.
- To keep Baddy safe: to stop abuse, review reports and enforce our Terms, including suspending accounts that break them.
- To fix problems and keep the service running.
- To understand how Baddy's features are used and improve them, using our own feature activity records. Authorised staff may review saved AI chat for support or product improvement, as described below.
- To measure and improve how well Baddy finds rallies and tracks the shuttle, using the corrections you make in the editor (for example, moving the shuttle to where it really was).
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it or share it with anyone for their marketing, and we do not sell or license your videos to anyone to train AI models.
3. AI processing and the companies that help us
We use these companies to run Baddy. Each one receives only what its task needs, acts on our instructions, and handles the data under its terms for business customers. We require each of them to protect your data at least as well as this policy does, and not to use it for anything else.
| Company | What it does for Baddy | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Web Services (AWS) | Runs our servers and stores your data in Mumbai, India (region ap-south-1). | Everything stored in Baddy. |
| Amazon Location Service (part of AWS) | Finds clubs and courts on the map when you search for one, and the badminton places around a game you just recorded in the app. | The words you search for and your rough area (about 1 kilometre), or the rough place of the recording (about 100 metres). Never your name, your account or your videos. |
| Google Gemini API | Finds the rallies in your videos and picks the highlights. When you ask, it also reads the score, names strokes, writes coach notes, powers the Studio chat, and makes music or transition clips. | Copies of your video (usually a lower-resolution version), still frames and short clips from it, your chat messages and the details of your edit. |
| Meta SAM API | Automatically draws outlines (masks) around players and objects after your reel is generated to prepare video effects, even if you have not chosen an effect. | Short rally clips and what to outline. |
| Anthropic (Claude API) | Marks where your court and its net are in the video, so Baddy follows your game and not the courts around it. | Three still frames from your video. |
| RunPod | Runs the shuttle-tracking pipeline used by Baddy AI on GPU servers. | A copy of your video while the shuttle is tracked. |
| Message Central | Sends sign-in codes to Indian mobile numbers by text message (SMS) or WhatsApp. | Your mobile number and the code. |
| Amazon SES (part of AWS) | Sends sign-in codes by email. | Your email address and the code. |
| OpenAI API | Draws your comic character from a photo, only when you choose to make one. | The photo you choose for it, and an anonymous code for your account that helps it prevent abuse. We keep only the drawing you pick, as your profile picture. |
| Clerk | Runs sign-in with Google, Apple or an email code. | Your email address, name and profile picture from the account you sign in with, and sign-in records. |
| Apple (iPhone memberships) | Processes App Store subscriptions and sends signed purchase and renewal records used to grant membership access and credits. | An opaque account token linking the purchase to your Baddy account, product and transaction identifiers and purchase status. Your payment details are handled by Apple. |
| Razorpay | Processes credit purchases (UPI, cards, netbanking, wallets). | The amount, your name and email for the receipt, and the payment details you enter on its checkout. |
| Apple, Google and Mozilla push services | Deliver the notifications you turn on (a new follower, a like, a reel that is ready) to your iPhone or your browser. | An address for your device. In a browser the message is encrypted, so the service cannot read it; on an iPhone, Apple delivers its text (for example "Riya started following you"). |
Your permission comes first. Before any of your videos go to Google, Meta, Anthropic or RunPod, the app and the website ask you, and say what is sent where and why. You can withdraw that permission at any time in the app (Settings, then AI processing) or on the web (your Account page). Without it you can still watch reels, but you cannot upload new videos or use the AI features.
This permission includes Meta's automatic processing of short rally clips after reel generation, even when you have not selected an effect. An answer to an older AI-processing notice does not allow this newly disclosed processing: we ask you to read the current notice and allow it again first.
Some of these companies may process data outside India, for example in the United States.
Club search uses map data from Amazon Location Service and the data providers listed on its data attribution page.
4. Who can see your reels
New reels uploaded by a signed-in player are public and appear on that player's profile. Anyone, including people who are not signed in, can see a public reel and the club or court attached to it. Baddy Pro accounts can choose to show a reel only to their followers or only to themselves. You can delete your reels at any time. If you belong to a school, its coaches can see the sessions shared with the school, and a school's reels are never public.
What people can see of a reel is what they watch: the reel itself and its preview, its thumbnail, its rally clips, the player names and photos on its scoreboard, the trimmed match if you make one, and its cuts (the 16:9 match cut and the 9:16 shuttle cut, in their 30, 60 and 90 second versions, with or without the shuttle trail), along with the stats and tracking shown with it, such as rally lengths, shot speeds and the shuttle's path. Your original video, the full match Baddy works from and its sound, and Baddy's working files (the raw output of the AI models and the match analysis) are never public, whoever can see the reel: only you can open them, and our team when they review a report.
Staff access to activity and saved AI chat
Account activity, upload file details and saved AI chats are available only to you and authorised members of our team. Staff review of saved chat requires a support or product-improvement purpose, and each review creates an access record. We use these records within Baddy; we do not send them to an external analytics service. This does not change the AI processing described in section 3, or access to original videos and working files described above.
If our team suspends an account, its reels are hidden from everyone until the suspension ends. Nothing in the account is deleted.
5. How long we keep it
- Your account, videos, reels and their saved AI chats: until you delete them or your account.
- Feature activity: up to 90 days. Per-file upload metadata and staff chat-access records: up to 12 months. These records are also removed when you delete your account or the related reel.
- Problem reports: until the problem is handled, then at most 12 months; those sent from an account go when it is deleted.
- Sign-in codes: until they expire, at most 10 minutes.
- IP addresses used to stop abuse: a few minutes. Server logs: up to 30 days.
- When you delete your account, we delete it and its data from our live systems straight away. Copies in logs or backups, if any, are deleted within 30 days.
- After you delete your account we keep only a one-way hash of your email or number (it cannot be turned back into either), to prevent repeat sign-up bonuses.
6. Deleting your account and your data
You can delete your account at any time:
- In the app: Settings, then Delete account.
- On the web: sign in at baddyai.com/account, then Delete account.
- By email: write to hello@dotredlabs.com with your username. We may ask you to confirm that the account is yours.
Deleting your account removes your profile and sign-in details, your credits, every video and reel you uploaded with all their files and AI data, your Studio chats and AI notes, your ratings, likes, follows and blocks, the reports you made and the problem reports you sent. Reels that belong to other people are not affected. This cannot be undone.
You can also ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete a single video, by writing to hello@dotredlabs.com.
7. Your choices and rights
- AI processing: allow or withdraw it in Settings or on your Account page.
- Location: the app asks before using it. You can say no, or turn it off later in your phone's settings.
- Camera, microphone and photos: the app asks before using them, and you can change this in your phone's settings.
- Who sees your reels: change it on each reel.
- Blocking and reporting: block players, and report reels you think break our Terms.
Depending on where you live, including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may have the right to access, correct or erase your data, to withdraw your consent, and to raise a complaint. Write to hello@dotredlabs.com and we will reply within 30 days.
8. Children
Baddy is not for children under 13, and they must not create an account. If you are under 18, use Baddy with the permission of a parent or guardian. If you film other people, especially children, you must have their permission (for a child, a parent's or guardian's). If we learn that we hold data about a child under 13 without that permission, we delete it. Tell us at hello@dotredlabs.com.
9. No ads, no tracking, no sale
Baddy has no advertising and no third-party analytics or advertising trackers. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not sell or rent your personal data.
10. Security
Every connection uses HTTPS. Passwords and sign-in codes are stored only in hashed form, and the links to private reels expire. No system is perfectly secure, so keep your phone and account safe, and tell us at once if you think your account was misused.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will post the new version here and change the date at the top. If a change affects what is sent to AI services, the app will ask you again before it sends anything.
